Sweden to prioritise green IT solutions
Swedish environment minister Kjell Larsson is to chair a national stakeholder group that will investigate how information technology (IT) could offer society green solutions. Researchers, industry representatives and environmental protection agency officials will flesh out ideas for IT products that could help reduce energy use, transport emissions and other negative environmental impacts. Video conferencing is an existing example of such a green IT solution, the environment ministry said in a statement on 20 December, but more are needed. See press release.
