Resource efficiency research published
A study evaluating different ways of measuring resource efficiency has been released by the UK environment ministry. Completed last year, the analysis fed into a report from prime minister Tony Blair's office in November. This recommended a major effort to improve resource productivity but questioned the value of existing overall measures such as Factor 4 and ecological footprinting (EED 20/11/01). Resource efficiency is a growing political priority across Europe, stoking increasing debate in how to measure progress. See the report.
