UK airports unveil sustainability vision
The UK airport operators association (AOA) today published a vision for a sustainable aviation policy, foreshadowing a government white paper due later this year. Five "core" principles advanced include the need to address environmental impacts. The document also calls for measures to tackle impacts such as noise and emissions, with an emphasis on solutions to be developed by aircraft manufacturers. AOA wants "consensus rather than confrontation" in airport planning decisions and has asked government to clarify where and when new runway capacity will be provided. See press release.
