Consumers "misled" over organic farming
The European crop protection association (ECPA) claims UK and Spanish consumers have been "misled" into thinking that organic farming is "farming without chemicals". ECPA says that organic farming does use chemicals, such as copper and sulphur, but that consumers are not aware of this. Its statement is based on a public opinion survey in the two countries that investigated consumer familiarity with a range of sustainable farming issues and methods, including integrated crop management and pesticide residue limits.
