Spanish NGOs respond on sustainability
Spain's principal environmental groups have set out a series of demands for a national sustainable development strategy in response to government proposals issued in December (EED 04/12/01). Ecologists in Action plus the Spanish branches of Birdlife, Greenpeace and WWF called for a high level of transparency and wide scope for genuine participation by civil society. They urged the inclusion of clear, concrete and measurable objectives in the final strategy document. Taking this opportunity, the groups also demanded a thorough re-evaluation of the government's national hydrological plan. See press release.
