Spanish regulator "against wind subsidies"

Spain's energy regulator the National energy commission (CNE) wants an end to subsidies for wind power, it was reported today. An unnamed source made the claim in national newspaper El Pais, saying that the commission believes wind farms are now capable of competing without assistance. Renewable energy producers' association Appa slammed the comments, calling them part of an on-going campaign spearheaded by nuclear energy supporters to "impede the growth" of the wind sector, now the second largest in Europe.
