More criticism of Spanish water plan
Spanish environmental groups have again attacked the country's national hydrological plan in a report addressed to the European Commission on Tuesday. Issued by WWF Spain, the document concludes that the plan is unsustainable, contradicting the government's own recent environmental assessment (EED 23/01/02). Key complaints are that water resources will be shifted from poor to rich regions and that impacts on protected habitats and water quality have not been sufficiently taken into account. The groups are campaigning to block any EU funding for the plan. See report summary.
