French launch environment-health research body
A French research institute charged with investigating links between the state of the environment and human health will be officially created within the next few days, environment minister Yves Cochet has informed France's lower parliamentary house. The body was proposed by Mr Cochet's predecessor Dominique Voynet. It is part of a growing focus across the EU on the interconnections between environmental quality and human health as reflected in European Commission proposals for the EU's sixth environmental action programme (EED 08/01/01).
