EU to support greener mobility event
Europe's annual car-free day will this year grow into a broader "European mobility week", it was announced today in Brussels on the closing day of the European Commission's "green week". Beginning on 16 September, the week will promote public transport, pedestrian areas, bicycle use and children's mobility needs, culminating in this year's car-free day on Sunday 22 September. The Commission estimates that 100m citizens took part in the same event last year (EED 24/09/01). See press release, plus more information on this year's green week.
