Fund managers rate firms on sustainability

British asset management business Morley fund management has issued a "sustainability matrix" ranking FTSE 100 companies according to social and environmental criteria. Business sustainability was rated A-E, depending on factors such as renewable energy, healthcare and education. Management vision was scored 1-5, with all companies falling within the 2-4 range. Morley has been putting pressure on quoted companies to improve their environmental record (EED 11/04/01). It said that only the 54 firms in the A2-C3 range will be considered for inclusion in the Morley Sustainable Future Funds. See press release.
