Nordic scientists in heated climate exchange
A Nordic conference on climate change yesterday descended into near-pandemonium during a row over the causes of global warming, Jyllands-Posten newspaper reports. The atmosphere among scientists meeting in Copenhagen "was thick with accusations of humbug and scientific fraud", Jyllands-Posten writes. The target was Henrik Svensmark, a researcher at the Danish space research institute, whose work on possible links between cosmic rays and global warming has been championed by the controversial economist Bjørn Lomborg (EED 27/02/02). Several speakers vehemently attacked Mr Svensmark's suggestion that carbon dioxide emissions were not the cause of warming. See article.
