Ospar publishes master pollutant list
The Ospar commission has published for the first time the working list of "substances of possible concern" from which it selects chemicals for priority phase-out action. Charged with implementing the 1998 commitment by Ospar states to end releases of hazardous substances into the North Atlantic by 2020, the commission has published the 386-strong list in a bid to solicit comments and corrections of errors in associated data sets. The list was last updated in June; inclusion depends on substances' intrinsic hazardous properties (EED 11/07/02). See Ospar Commission and list.
