Düsseldorf deposits case moves to highest court
The case earlier this month in which the German government lost to opponents of deposits due to be introduced on certain types of drinks containers has been referred to Germany's supreme administrative court (EED 11/09/02). Yesterday the North Rhine Westphalia environment ministry said it was appealing against the Düsseldorf court's decision. All parties have agreed that the case should skip the state administrative court, clearing its route to Leipzig. A similar deal was struck last week in the state of Hesse, after the plaintiffs withdrew their case from the local court (EED 24/09/02).
