EU forum to promote good CSR practice

An EU multi-stakeholder forum, aimed at fostering greater use and understanding of corporate social responsibility (CSR) good practice, was formally launched in Brussels today. The European Commission will chair the forum, which includes around 20 EU-level representatives from business groups and civil society. Its creation was pledged in a low-key Commission strategy released in July, intended to encourage continued voluntary participation in CSR by business (02/07/02). "The forum is a vital process needed to reach consensus on the future of CSR in Europe," said enterprise commissioner Erkki Liikanen. See press release.
