Cost of sustainability reporting probed
The Global reporting initiative (GRI) has collated available information on how much firms spend to produce sustainability reports as an aid to potential first-time reporters. Surveys by GRI and others have yielded figures from under US$100,000 (€100,348) to well over US$1m. Much of the variation was caused by discrepancies over what expenditure to include - an example being information management systems. "I would expect to see any firm serious about sustainability have information management systems already in place whether they were reporting or not," said GRI's Mark Brownlie. See press release.
