Spanish renewables price support cut
Spanish energy minister, José Folgado, yesterday detailed cuts in price support for major renewable energies. Premiums in the key wind energy sector will drop by 8%, those for other sectors by between 2% and 4%. The cuts are the second in three years (EED 07/01/00), while further changes to the system remain likely (EED 24/10/02). The government claims the move will help counter inflation but not reduce growth in the wind energy sector. Renewable energy group Appa disputed the government's figures and predicted bad times ahead for renewables. See Spanish economy ministry.
