Scientists say "Badge" exposure well down
Consumer exposure to the suspected endocrine disrupter Badge, used in food container linings, has plummeted, and levels of migration of the substance into foods are now well below EU levels set in a directive last year, according to the EU's scientific committee on food. The findings emerged from a survey it conducted as part of a toxicity testing programme. The committee said they justified the granting of a two-year extension to a 2002 deadline for industry to submit detailed studies on Badge. The studies were requested in 1999. See SCF statement.
