Chemicals product stewardship deal signed

European chemicals makers and distributors have agreed joint product stewardship guidelines intended to advance the sector's voluntary Responsible Care programme on health, safety and environmental protection. The guidelines take Responsible Care "beyond the factory gate and spread it within the supply chain", according to chemical manufacturers' association Cefic. They place mutual duties on distributors and suppliers and define borders of responsibility. Distributors association Fecc began cooperating with Cefic on Responsible Care in 1999 (EED 01/06/99). See press release and the guidelines.
