Trittin moves to boost renewables support
Germany is to provide a further stimulus for renewable energy, German environment minister Jürgen Trittin told press agency DPA on Saturday. Mr Trittin's comments provide a first indication of his policy intentions since he took over responsibility for renewables promotion from the economics ministry in October (EED 10/10/02). A government fund to encourage householders to install renewable energy equipment would rise from €190m to €230m by 2006, Mr Trittin said. Germany's 2000 law governing price support for renewables producers would also be amended. Formal proposals are due soon. See DPA.
