EU-US climate science dialogue progresses
European and American representatives have begun to sketch out a joint climate change science research programme under a cooperation agreement reached last April (EED 24/04/02). The two sides held a first detailed meeting in Washington D.C. last week. Six areas for further research were agreed at the session, including development of standards for hydrogen energy technologies, creation of a global carbon observation system, studies on atmospheric aerosols and research into carbon capture and storage. A further meeting is scheduled for October. See joint statement.
