Scotland to create pollution inventory
The Scottish environmental protection agency (Sepa) has been granted funding to compile a national online inventory of pollution from industrial sites across the country, the government announced last week. Some information will be available online this summer, although the inventory will not be completed until August 2005. Sepa has not yet specified whether the register will be restricted to the 50 pollutants stipulated in the European pollutant emission register (Eper) or be more like the English and Welsh system, which covers releases of some 200 pollutants. See press release.
