"Trendy" Norwegian NGOs gain ground
After ten years in decline, membership in Norway's environmental NGOs is rising again, Vårt Land newspaper reported today. Total membership fell by one-third during the nineties but increased by 10% last year to over 51,000. Commenting on the newspaper's findings, which appear to contradict those of an academic research project released last month (EED 27/01/03), national broadcasting corporation NRK speculates that green issues have become "trendy" again.
