Slow progress for Belgian sustainability
The Belgian government is not integrating sustainable development principles into its individual departments, decision making and annual reporting systems as required under the national sustainable development strategy, an official report has concluded. Environmental issues are, nonetheless, taking on a greater significance in policy-making, it says. The document, which covers the period 1998 to 2001, is the first progress report to appear since Belgium's first sustainability strategy was approved in 2000 (EED 25/10/00). See report.
