EU furniture ecolabel rules still up in air
EU member states at a technical meeting due to finalise the criteria for an EU furniture ecolabel failed to find agreement yesterday. Consultants presented four options, according to Jorgo Iwasaki-Riss, who represented Greenpeace at the session. Delegations from some member states, such as France, supported an option which would allow the use of PVC plastic in furniture. Others, including Sweden and Norway, backed NGO demands for this to be excluded (EED 14/03/03). Discussions on the label are to continue pending formal approval in September.
