Sweden to review progress on Kyoto targets
The Swedish government has asked the environmental protection agency and national energy authority to review progress in national climate policies. "Checkpoint 2004" is to be completed by the end of June next year. It will "evaluate what results the climate policy has achieved, how emissions trends are looking and whether further measures are required to reach the targets which have been set", the environment ministry said yesterday. Sweden is aiming for a 4% cut in greenhouse gas emissions between 1990 and 2008-12 (EED 30/11/01). See press release.
