Promotion of EU renewables exports urged
European renewable energy lobby group Erec is urging the EU to create a coordinated programme to promote renewables exports, preferably through a new European renewable energy export council. Erec claims that a predicted €17bn EU export market by 2010 will be put at risk unless the EU matches the sort of renewables export promotion already offered by the USA, Australia and Japan. The organisation is hoping to see its proposals taken up by the European Commission in a action plan on environmental technologies due out later this year. See Erec exports strategy.
