Norwegians call for action on additives
Pressure is growing for Norway to reverse its adoption of EU harmonising legislation on food additives. The renewed debate follows last week's court victory for Denmark enabling it to continue operating certain restrictions that are tougher than those specified in harmonised EU controls (EED 20/03/03). Such diverse bodies as the Norwegian consumer council and the state food control authority are all reported by newspaper Dagsavisen as demanding a rethink of national policy. Norway is bound by EU food additives legislation even though it is not a member of the bloc. See article.
