Actions urged to enforce EU fisheries rules
The European Commission has proposed actions to strengthen enforcement of fishing rules following ministerial agreement on a reform of the EU's common fisheries policy last December (EED 03/01/03). A communication issued yesterday sets out details of a future EU fisheries control agency and urges greater cooperation between governments to make surveillance and inspections more effective.
