Pesticide consumption rises in Denmark

After two years in decline, national sales of agricultural pesticides rose slightly in 2002, the Danish crop protection association (Dansk Planteværn), a trade body representing pesticide producers and importers, reports. Sales figures showed an increase of 4% in terms of active ingredients by weight, amounting to 2,700 tonnes, the association said in a statement. Herbicides by weight were up 5% and fungicides 6%; insecticides fell by 1% and growth-regulating agents by 18%. See Dansk Planteværn.
