"New strategy" in Danish war on waste
Danish environment minister Hans Christian Schmidt is drafting a new long-term waste strategy, to be presented to parliament shortly, national news agency Ritzau reported today. The strategy will evaluate the relative benefits of different policies and focus on "solving concrete problems associated with waste", Mr Schmidt is quoted as saying, as opposed to more generalised campaigns to reduce volumes of waste generated in all categories. Out of more than a hundred proposals in the strategy, Ritzau singles out initiatives to boost recycling and reduce dumping at rubbish tips. See Politiken article.
