France ruled late on EU biocides law
France was condemned by the European court of justice on 10 April for failing to transpose the EU's 1998 directive on biocides marketing. It is the third EU country to be successfully prosecuted by the European Commission regarding the directive (EED 30/05/02). On the same day, court advocate general Francois Jacobs delivered an opinion for the Finnish supreme court on the definition of mining waste. The case follows a similar approach made by the court last year (EED 19/04/02). See judgement in case C-114/02 (France) and opinion in case C-114/01 (Finland).
