Nuclear power "necessary" to deliver C02 cuts
Global use of nuclear power must be increased if the projected growth in energy demand is to be met while reducing carbon dioxide emissions, according to a scientific think-tank affiliated to the European nuclear society (ENS). In a position statement, the scientists argue that a "realistic appraisal" of the world's energy situation shows that more nuclear power is a necessity. Addressing issues that "give rise to most public concern" is key to ensuring that nuclear power becomes less controversial, they conclude. See press release and position statement.
