Boost for German green buildings loan facility
The German government has expanded its energy-efficient housing loan programme by €160m. The money is in addition to €1bn already set aside in 2001 for the programme, which is administered by state-owned development bank KfW (EED 07/03/01). Under the programme, owners of old buildings can obtain low-interest loans for installing energy efficient and environmentally friendly heating equipment. KfW said it had already provided €1.4bn in loans under the programme, which redistributes revenue from the government's energy tax programme and which expires in 2005. See press release.
