"Improvement" completed at UK nuclear plant
UK nuclear services firm BNFL announced today that the nuclear safety authority has given its Sellafield site the green light, after successful implementation of a raft of measures recommended in a damning report three years ago (EED 18/02/00). Since publication of the authority's report, which forced BNFL's chief executive to resign (EED 28/02/00), the company has reorganised safety management at the site, implemented independent audit and review arrangements, and improved staff training. See press release.
