LPG "cleaner than filter-equipped diesels"
Britain's liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) industry has fought back against recent claims that the alternative road fuel is no longer "green" enough to deserve favourable tax treatment (EED 15/05/03) . LPG-fuelled vehicles emit less fine particulates than diesel-powered ones even if the latter are fitted with particle filters, according to new research, the industry said this week. Shifting to LPG would cut UK particle emissions by up to 7%, claims a scientific paper published in the journal Impact assessment and project appraisal. See press release.
