Ministers suspend EU farm reform talks
EU agriculture ministers suspended crucial talks on reforming the common agricultural policy (Cap) without agreement on Thursday and will reassemble in Luxembourg on Tuesday. But prospects are fading for the key plan to end links between subsidies and production - designed to make the Cap less trade-distorting and more environmentally friendly - after Germany agreed to back French opposition. French daily Le Monde reported that, in return, France will now back possible German attempts to water down a strengthening of EU chemicals regulation.
