EU leaders back "green diplomacy" network
European heads of state and of government meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece, this weekend endorsed the creation of an EU "green diplomacy" network. Under the umbrella of each EU presidency, experts from member state foreign ministries are to help integrate environment into foreign policies, in line with the bloc's Cardiff process on environmental integration (EED 13/03/02). Linking environmental and security issues will be the network's main focus. See Theassaloniki council minutes (page 23) and more detailed EU presidency paper.
