Call for strategic assessment of EU road plan
A coalition of five environmental groups is calling for full strategic environmental assessment of the completion of the EU's trans-European transport network (Ten-T). In a new report the groups say they are "extremely concerned" at the lack of attention being paid to compatibility of EU transport policies with the Natura 2000 wildlife network. The paper focuses on large projects in EU accession countries and responds to initial proposals from former EU commissioner Karel van Miert on the future of Ten-T, due to be taken forward in September.
