Denmark criticised over sustainability
Danish NGOs have attacked the government for allegedly failing to introduce follow-up measures to last year's Johannesburg world sustainability summit, Jyllands-Posten newspaper reports. At a conference attended in Copenhagen yesterday, debt relief, free trade, technology transfer and measures to alleviate poverty were cited as issues that had still not been addressed. Danish environment minister Hans Christian Schmidt said his government was preparing a new climate strategy and an action plan on biodiversity. See 5 September press digest.
