Swiss "must get flexible" over Kyoto target
Switzerland looks unlikely to meet its Kyoto protocol commitment of an 8% cut in greenhouse gases by 2008-12 and should "further develop emissions trading and other flexible mechanisms" as alternatives to domestic emission reductions, according to the International energy agency. In a review of Swiss energy policies, the Paris-based organisation also suggests that a long-threatened CO2 tax will have to be introduced.
