Danes issue waste strategy to 2008
Denmark's environmental protection agency (EPA) has published its waste strategy for 2005-2008 focusing as expected on the relative costs and benefits of different measures. The 250-page document says the overall aim of the strategy is to "uncouple the increase in the volume of waste from economic growth" in line with the government's sustainable development policies. These in turn aim to weaken links between economic growth and consumption of resources. Waste targets for 2008 are 63% recycled, 26% incinerated, and 9% landfill. See strategy.
