Experts discuss options to boost renewables
Renewable energy experts from 60 countries gathered in Denmark last week to discuss international cooperation to boost renewables, ahead of a major conference in Bonn next June. One of several meetings organised by the Johannesburg renewable energy coalition (JREC), the event produced calls for "a strong and firm policy framework", a stop to fossil fuel subsidies, and "clear and realistic" renewables targets. Attempts to set such targets were unsuccessful at an earlier JREC meeting in June (EED 05/06/03). See press release and conference conclusions.
