End of can ban leaves Danes with a hangover
Barely a year after canned beer and soft drinks first appeared on Danish shelves, brewers and distributors are beginning to withdraw them from sale because of low demand, Jyllands-Posten newspaper reports. Bryggerigruppen, representing a number of large companies, has already taken cans of certain soft drinks off the market. Sales of canned beer at Coop Danmark outlets is reported to be 5% of the total, while relative turnover of some soft drinks is measured in "thousandths". A packaging tax of 50 øre (6.7 eurocents) per can is blamed. See article.
