New round of EU law infringement actions

The European Commission on Tuesday announced further infringement steps against EU member states allegedly breaking environmental laws. Spain faces court action for failing to close an illegal waste landfill. Greece has been warned of possible repeat court action for failing to communicate on its hazardous waste management procedures despite a ruling against it in 2002. Greece, Spain and Ireland have been warned over implementation of EU rules on ozone-depleting substances. Austria and Portugal likewise over breaches of EU nature conservation legislation.
