EU phthalate risk assessment row continues
An EU risk assessment of the most widely used phthalate plasticiser, DEHP, will now not demand measures to reduce risk to the general population, trade group Ecpi claimed this week. At a technical meeting in September, member states agreed to approximately double intake limits from a level proposed by Sweden, the rapporteur, the association said. Swedish chemicals agency chief Ethel Forsberg rejected Ecpi's claim, accusing it of spreading "disinformation". The disagreement follows a similar clash between the two sides last autumn (EED 18/09/02). See Ecpi press release.
