"Ghost ship" importer fights losing battle
The row over redundant US navy vessels due to be scrapped in Britain has escalated further with the first two ships now under tow in UK waters. Last Wednesday the London high court backed an environmentalist request and blocked dismantling from starting. The following day the UK environment ministry said the vessels should be returned to America after the winter. Friends of the Earth has now followed up with a call for an inquiry into "this unhappy situation". See press releases from UK environment ministry, Able UK and Friends of the Earth.
