European judge raps Italy over missing EIA
Italy should be condemned in the European court of justice for failing to justify a decision to forego environmental impact assessment (EIA) of plans to build a new road, a judge said on Thursday. A specific opinion is required when a member state exercises its right to exclude certain projects from EIA, the advocate general argued. Meanwhile, the European Commission initiated an infringement procedure against France for failing to comply with a court ruling concerning implementation of an EU directive on biocides.
