Official launch for Irish EU green programme
Irish environment minister Martin Cullen officially launched Ireland's EU presidency environmental programme on Sunday. ENDS Europe DAILY reported in detail on its intentions last Monday (EED 12/01/04). In a statement, Mr Cullen highlighted his intention to make progress on climate change, the EU's Lisbon sustainability agenda, and on an EU environmental technologies action plan. The presidency would try to secure "better controls and greater legal clarity" on transfrontier waste shipments and would champion the use of economic insruments in environmental policies, he added.
