5% of global warming "caused by ExxonMobil"
Oil firm ExxonMobil has caused about 5% of global greenhouse gas emissions since 1882, pressure group Friends of the Earth (FoE) claimed in London on Thursday. FoE said its calculations were the first to measure any company's historic contribution to climate change, and could "prove vital in paving the way for compensation claims". The firm described any prospect that it could face legal action as "absurd" and any allegation that it doesn't take a constructive approach to climate change as "completely and utterly unfounded".
