Nordic neighbours fall out over green policy
Swedish environment minister Lena Sommestad has described the Danish government as "one of the biggest impediments to progressive environmental policies in Europe", Danish national news agency Ritzau reports. Ms Sommestad told reporters at Tuesday's EU environment ministerial session in Brussels that the EU could no longer "count on" Denmark (and, in some respects, the Netherlands) for support on such issues as energy consumption, carbon dioxide quotas and sustainability. Her Danish counterpart, Hans Christian Schmidt, said he was "surprised" by Ms Sommestad's remarks. See article in Jyllands-Posten newspaper.
